Found in colder regions of North America (Artic, Canada), in Scotland, Wales and Scandinavia. This close cousin of the raspberry is a low or creeping plant with no thorns or stickers on it's stems or leaves. It closely resembles salmon berries, but has many differences. The solitary flowers are white, are either male or female, and are located on the tip of the stem. They flower in June/July and fruit in August. The taste of the berries has been described as apple or honey in nature. The roots have been used for infertility in women. The roots are also used for coughs, fever, tuberculosis. The berries are a rich source of vitamin C.
