    Peppergrass of the Brassicaceae family with tiny white flowers in dense clusters having four sepals and four petals, arranged in an X or H shape, and having 4 longs and 2 short stamens. Seedpods occur in a spiraled raceme atop the stalk. Lacks the common basal leaves of other mustard family plants. Leaves lanceolate.

    seedpods are peppery and can be added to stews and soups or as a garnish for other dishes. Leaves are edible as a salad green or potherb and are also peppery. Seeds make an excellent pepper substitute.
