    Stinging Nettels The toothed, narrow oval leaves are covered in stinging hairs, and the spikes of green flowers. Pick only young plants 6 to 8 inches tall. Boil the leaves for 10 minutes to destroy the acid in the hairs. The leaves can be dried and stored(after boiling) the stems can be crushed and used to make rope.
